Trashed 2 Drafts Already

Kayyy so I realize I didn’t update in a really long time (like 6 days or something, but who’s REALLLY counting?)

It’s not cause I’m lazy, I just don’t have anything very interesting to say. I’m not really sure what has happened to my life lately. I’m in kind of a rut I guess. I feel very irritated and tired all the time and I don’t want to do jack shit. I have these urges to sleep 24 hours a day and forget that life is going on outside.

I think its getting a little better now that the weather is finally becoming warmer slowly but surely.

I was going to write about how my plants failsauced yet again, or how I created my own version of the Mike and Ike box……but I just don’t really feel like any of that is really important.

Really I’m just coasting I guess.

BLEH.

The Joys of Last Minute Planning

My boyfriend Ariel’s birthday is April 5th, being a long weekend should be perfect, but we found out that half of his friends are taking a trip to Montreal that weekend and couldn’t make it for an official party. So we pulled some plans out of thin air and went to Korean BBQ Saturday night. I actually don’t have many pics cause I was too busy cooking LOTS AND LOTS OF PORK~!

Side note: I have an aunt who converted some kind of black sheep form of Judaism and got into it with my mom and older sister about eating pork this one time…. So I just laugh a little whenever the topic of pork comes up. I just really don’t like it when people try to put their beliefs on others. It’s not part of my religion and no one was forcing her to eat it.

We went to Korean Grill House, which I’ve been to before maybe only twice. The all you can eat menu comes with usual Korean style appetizers like kimchi/bean sprouts/potatoes/fried tofu/pickled vegetable. The meal also comes with endless white rice bowls and a somewhat mediocre ‘soup’ that was really the only disappointing part. Well and I ordered diet Coke and they eventually kept re-filling me with regular Coke…. I guess I looked like I need to put on a few pounds again? XD

I did take a pic of me and Ariel during the dinner and we both set it to our iphone wallpapers, because we’re cute like that.

Me and the birthday boy~

The funny part was when I went to the restroom…. MY PORTRAIT WAS ON THE DOOR~~!

TWINS RIGHT?!?!?!??!

We still gathered the most important people for the birthday, six in total. So that was good. We had lots of fun cooking our own food and piling it all up on a small plate. The only awkward part is that they gave us lots of salmon, squid, and other fish fillets. Ariel is allergic to fish and we were all cooking on the same fire pit. I mean he won’t die, but he will break out in some hives and discomfort for a few days even if he takes allergy medication. Even more weird is that he didn’t USED TO BE allergic to fish. According to the popular belief story one day he ate a bad octopus ball that changed his DNA. Who really knows what happened?

After dinner we went to this bar called The Green Room, which they used to go to all the time, until it closed down, then closed down again. Last weekend they stopped by there by chance and discovered it was opened. I’m not the one with the long history there, they are. The last time we were going to go there in the summer it was closed. It was pretty good, but very dark inside. I’d rate it a good bar for vampires.

I honestly haven’t drank beer in quite some time. Since I found some other coolers I’m interested in that aren’t too pricy.

I can’t really remember partying like that in a long time, feeling a bit sick the next day and all that. Well what are birthdays for anyways??

Feeling Really GREAT~!

I feel so happy right now~! I finished my college application earlier this week, and already I have an offer of admission~~

I still can’t really say what I will decide since I still have to see if I can get into the other program at my current school. I also need to talk to the people close to me to help me decide if they think its a good fit for me too. Sometimes I get excited about my wishful thinking and fail to consider if it’s really a good idea.

I’ve been feeling really moody/uncertain lately. The last few weeks of this semester are the most difficult to get everything done.

It just feels really great to be WANTED to be GOOD ENOUGH to have the offer out there.

Decisions in the making

It’s no secret that I’ve been studying art foundations for the past year. I’m really happy with the things I’ve created and I feel like a lot of it has to do with being directed by a teacher what to do, but sometimes when I’m doing it I think “I could have probably done this all along” I love my drawing teacher the most because she’s really really nice when she critiques your life drawing.

I still have about a month left in my program and I’d have to say it’s been one of the most positive experiences in my life in a long time~!

The program is really slow paced at times and really tight deadlines at other times. But its really fun. The teachers are, for the most part, really cool. Mainly digital art classes I feel like my own knowledge outweighs the content of the course and play bubble shooter for the entire class. The things I did learn from the teacher, could have been explained in 1 minute, which is then put into a whole 30 mins of lecture time.

Going into it I thought I’ll see how it goes and if I suck no harm done, if I’m good then I can continue in art and have validation that I’m good enough!!!

Now I’m not so sure.

Do I really want to be a graphic designer?

I’m really not certain, but I know whatever I choose I have to stick with it.

I’ve never been really SMART or good at studying. Part of this has to do with my past and homeschooling that never really followed through. It’s safe to say my education had a lot of holes in it as well as my motivation. I went to private school to attempt to catch up around grade 6, but the social atmosphere there was not good. My school valued ATHLETIC talents much much MUCH more than ARTISTIC talents.

Eventually I started becoming ‘sick’ whenever something I didn’t want to do came up. It was comfortable to stay home rather than face challenges. My parents didn’t really question the validity of my ‘mysterious ilnness’ much either. I would spend a week or even two without going to school at a time. I still get like this, but only for a day.

I’m a coward. When I don’t want to challenge myself I don’t, and I hold myself back from improvement.

I know I’m not alone in this though. I think many people have been scared of failure, scared of success, and especially paranoid about how easily it will be to obtain employment after college.

Yes, of course you can say: well your loss other people will just have better success than you.

Yet I still have hopes for my future. I’m still searching for which path I should take as I begin applying for different college programs yet again…It feels again like I have no idea where life might take me this time, but I’m sure I’ll learn a lot along the way.

My Bento <3 + Health Post

I finally got my bento box in the mail after over 9000 years of waiting for it to come every day~! It took almost a month >_< because I cheaped out on shipping lol~

I think I mentioned that I got the matching red one to my bf Ariel’s blue one… So I took pics of them side by side.

I lost some weight recently from being on liquid diet, which is what it is. I had to do it for medical reasons. It feels weird when people compliment me on it, but I guess they’re happy for me losing winter fat easily? Bleh I don’t care about weight loss too much.

I eat what I want, but try to make healthy choices because its better and provides more quality energy.

Starting with the desire to start packing a lunch again. That’s where my new bento box comes into the game~ now that I have a pretty place to put my lunch, I’m hoping I will be encouraged to make good food for my lunch ahead of time rather than getting stuck with a coffee and doughnut because I’m too lazy.

I hate to sound like a hippie, but I’m getting into the whole idea of not using so much plastic products. I’ve been using my own Rubbermaid water bottle for over a year now, and refilling it with tap water filtered through a Brita jug in the fridge. It was only $5 for a good quality bottle, I don’t think that’s a lot of money since I would spend $5 on anything really stupid~ I’m just one of those people who need to carry a water bottle because I get sick easily on the subway and faint without a water supply on hand~

I made an easy to prepare lunch with most major food groups in it:

- Croissant with honey ham

- Laughing Cow cheese (x2 portions)

- an apple cut into wedges

- cucumber

Works out to being 540 cals, and as a combo rates A- in nutrition according to caloriecount (about.com website) Which is pretty darn good in my books~

I wanted to prepare some kind of awesome Asian-style lunch but I have to be at school for 8am and I’m very lazy to show up on time as it is. Oh well, hopefully the bento lunch gods will forgive me this time~~~~

I need to practice with designing food not just graphics~

I’m trying to plan a blog specifically for bento so my own blog doesn’t get spammed, I think it would work best if there were more than one author so it doesn’t become to stale and ded, so if you want to join me in bento matrimony leave me a comment ^o^

Spring Time~

Well I had to re-try planting my sprouts for the 3rd time now.

The first time I made the mistake of not providing enough light D= So I bought a special light bulb for my lamp for indoor planting, it was $5.

It was so far so good until I had to go out of town for my wisdom teeth extraction. I told Ariel to water them “once or twice WHILE I WAS AWAY” because I still have the plastic dome on top to keep the water raining down as condensation. By the time I got home 5 days later…. there was at least an inch of water in the bottom of the tray!!!!

Of course I forgive him for drowning my plants cause he thought I meant to water them once or twice a day………

This is over a month since I first planted by now so I finally planted them again for the 3rd time a few days ago. The progress is good, I’m hoping they will stick this time. Especially since there’s REALLY warm weather out for March (like 20C) I don’t feel too bad putting them on my balcony every now and then for a couple of hours to give my hydro bill a rest.

My lettuce (right) is doing VERY WELL, wild flowers (left) are okay, but the mint (not pictured) is slow, but tinnnny sprouts are happening now.

Other than that, the weather is GREAT~! I can’t complain this week but they’re saying it will go back down to 10C by next week and we’ll be dreaming of June again. I might even go to the beach tomorrow a day early of Ostara, because I’ll be in class on Wednesday T________T

I was gonna go today, but It’s my day to cook dinner (I’m making Bibimbop) and where I want to go is pretty darn far away from where I live.

I had another one of those days where I did my hair and stuff, just for fun.

looks like Michiru from Sailor Moon…. lolll

I also got a new case, because now I have an iphone 3G S, Its all pastel colours for the SPRING~$5 ONLY!!! I guess that’s because everyone is getting rid of iphone 3 cases now…..

Anyways I’m going to at least take a walk in the sun if anything~~~ <3

I’M ALIVE~!

After all my wisdom teeth extraction went well. I was booked for 8:45 AM for the surgery and chose to be put to sleep. I’ve never done that in my life so I didn’t know what to expect.

The night\morning before you can’t eat or drink anything after midnight. NOT EVEN MINTS OR CHEWING GUM~!

Most people say they make you count to 10 or down from 10 when they put you under, but all they did was ask me questions about what I wrote down on my sheet during my consultation and where I go to school, things like that. They pricked me and said “slight pinch”

I looked to my left and right saying “I think I’m falling asleep….”

They were like “not yet..”

and that’s the last thing I remember lol~

Being put to sleep must be what being dead feels like. You feel like someone stole that portion of time from your brain. There’s no recollection of what happened during the time you were asleep. You don’t hear anything, feel anything, or have any kind of dream. It’s just… blank.

When I woke up I was laying on a cot across the hall from where the surgery took place. The nurse took the gauze out of my mouth and gave me a small cup of ginger ale (very medicinal I bet)

I asked her how I got there and she said “you walked here” I’m like “LOLOLOLOL yea right” I still have no idea if that is true or not.

I followed all their directions so I didn’t feel ill or anything, just groggy. I hardly remember the ride home, how long my mom was at the pharmacy or anything like that.

Apparently I wasn’t too ded after surgery to take a photo of myself sitting in the car.

Recovery

  • First day was easier than I expected aside from the difficulties opening my mouth, and I fell asleep with my teeth clenched tightly and hurt myself…
  • Second day was also okay but boring, I discovered getting a slushie was very good, but I wasn’t allowed to use a straw yet >_<
  • Third day I swelled up more than the rest of the days, but was able to eat some mashed potatoes and tofu lol… I also got an even more GIANT slushie lol
  • Fourth day I was okay and went out to visit with family and the mall. Scrounged the buffet to find soft foods I could eat, first proper meal in about 3 days. Swelling lots only happened at night and I passed out asleep as soon as I got home after being out from using so much energy.
  • Fifth day (today) Feels the best~ only mild swelling that I didn’t even use any ice pack, traveled back to Toronto on the train and only experienced mild discomfort after attempting to eat some meat with my soup >_<

I guess it can only get better from here~I was never really “bed ridden” and could help myself to what I needed although kept a medication log because I was always fuzzy on what time I took my medication.

I’m staying strong through the power of hours of home decorating shows >_______<

It’s safe to say I can’t wait to go back to class tomorrow afternoon.

wisdom teeth

Just a quick post I’m having my wisdom teeth taken out in the morning, so I probably won’t be very lively or having any interesting update until I feel up to it…..hope it’s not too bad~

My EPIC study week

My sister Jen came to stay with me for the remainder of my study week~

When she first arrived we went to eat and then shopping at La Senza for a little bit. I had some messed up experience previously with the store and so we went to a different location. We both had scratch cards that were minimum $10 discount off a $25 purchase. I got the standard $10 but Jen received $100!!!!!! Not only did she get her purchase FREE, they loaded the rest on a gift card for her to spend whenever she wants O_______o

On Tuesday we slept in and then went to a Korean karaoke box~ (Meaning it’s just us in a small private room with the karaoke machine) I go there sometimes alone and they just look at me like I MUST be lost or something, since the point of these places is to sing with your friends, but no one wants to go with me. I didn’t take any pics because Jen was nervous about doing it in the first place but we had a lot of fun. Jen even found Eyes on Me from Final Fantasy VIII in the book. Besides that I think we sang Lady Gaga’s discography, and I sang a lot of my Jpop songs.

Wednesday was terrible slushie weather that I had to go to work for a few hours in. By the time I got home there was a snow cone in my shoes so we didn’t go out at all. We even wasted a lot of money ordering in food, which we never ever ever do.

Thursday we went to Dufferin Mall, but we didn’t feel like shopping much and just picked up some snacks and groceries.

Friday we went to Pacific Mall, mostly for the FOOOD~~ We got some epic boxes of rice enough to feed 6 people and a main dish, like WOOOWWW there was a lot! Jen and I shared a watermelon milk slush, which my friends Rachel and Lynne got me addicted to.I only bought a couple of hair clips and a new nail polish from this new Korean cosmetics shop.

This is the only picture I could get of Jen and Ariel without them looking silly.

SATURDAY is where it gets realllllly AWESOME SAUCEOME!!!! We planned to go to the Playdium in Mississauga. I’ve never been since it’s pretty pricy and takes a long time to get there. Earlier in the week I even had to put money away for it so I wouldn’t spend too much. I was kind of nervous that Playdium wouldn’t be as great as it seems since they’re not very descriptive about WHAT kind of games they have there. They have a LOT of racing games, a decent amount of shooting games, DDR SUPERNOVA 2!!!!, batting cages, and apparently even bubble shooter.

PLAYDIUM~!!!!

The food is not too over priced either, but maybe that’s because I was prepared to pay the $25 + applicable taxes x 2 to play already that  $5.50 for a pizza slice and drink wasn’t a big deal any more. Ariel got a panzarotti, which is the best value, if you want to die. He had to wipe it off with napkins from the GREASE but at least it was freshly made to order.

At first I felt weird about trying some of the games, but finally we found some that were free. The amount of little kids there wasn’t too annoying except this one time we failed early at DDR and this kid didn’t even wait until we got our stuff and was already on the game. Luckily the next time we played, no one was waiting or bothering us.

There was also this game that took your picture to use as an avatar during the races… I didn’t get a pic of mine, but Jen’s was cute~

BUNNY BOING BOING~

Ariel spent over 9000 mins on some shooter game with various partners, none of them being me or Jen…

Looking all cool for my camera…

We stayed probably 3 hours, playing the Indy 500 last. Apparently its an old SEGA game that they built cars that move like a ride as you drive with a realistic gas pedal. I said “Let’s go while I’m still in a good mood.” Since we weren’t really sure about how the bus was going to go for the way home, when I get stressed and worried I just blow up O_o

It took about an hour to get back home from there, 35 mins on Mississauga transit bus #26, although a whole lot of busses go there in a good sized station, since the mall Square One is right across the street. The bus just says “To Subway” but it brings you to Islington station, from there you can get back down town easily.

Honestly I want to go back just so I can check out Square One, but I reminded everyone that we’re there to PLAYDIUM not shop.

****

Sorry if this post has been disorganized and kind of random, I’m just too excited about the experiences to be really objective about it. And since I was the one taking pics it always looks like I’m forcing my sister and my bf to hang out together. Which I guess I am since I’m the one taking the pics~! Its a good compromise since I want both of them to have fun and not use Jen as a camera slave when we get together.

Mishellow’s Ultra Tips

I was asked if I would do a makeup tutorial recently, which I won’t do a makeup tutorial because I’m not a makeup artist and I wouldn’t know how to give tips for anyone besides myself. I get my ideas from tutorials on Youtube and also Japanese magazine scans. Instead I’ve decided to share my tips for beauty and fashion. I search Google a lot, so its not to say that you can’t find these ideas if you’re looking in the right place. I’m posting because I want to compile all of that searching into one ultimate post. A fair bit of it is also personal opinion.

I’m just going to post point-form in different categories. I hope that works ^^;

Skincare

  • Instead of buying expensive makeup remover wipes or gels, buy unscented baby wipes. Moisturize and DONE! Baby wipes are MEANT to kill bacterias for babies, so what do you think they do for your face? Yes, they may be a bit harsh for your skin, so wet the wipe a bit with warm water to dilute the wipe’s power and warm it up for your face. I stopped experiencing that odd breakout with this method also.
  • if your eye makeup is still stubborn, get some cotton pads and olive oil.
  • If you really want to, get a facial moisturizer, otherwise that giant bottle of St. Ives for about $5 is the cheapest and most non-grease ball moisturizer I’ve found.
  • Every now and then, get one of those $2 facial masks from the drug store~ They’re a nice treat for your skin and a good break for you.

Hair

  • If you’re lazy in the morning but you want curled hair, shower at night and twist your hair into 2 buns secured with elastics. When you wake up in the morning take them out and you should have mermaid curls, not crimps like you’d get from braiding.
  • When you wash your hair, focus the shampoo only on the scalp and scrub. when you apply conditioner, focus below your scalp
  • If you have hard water and your hair feels gunky even though you just washed it, rinse your hair with white vinegar.
  • I used to use Nice N Easy hair colour and people said “EFF OFF THAT ISN’T BOX HAIR COLOUR” … too bad it smells really bad and burns your eyes. If you can put up with it though…..
  • If you suck at dyeing your own hair, don’t be tempted to use that Perfect 10 comb unless your hair is pretty short, it DOES waste the product a lot faster. Just start at the bottom of your hair and take it slow.
  • For fried hair, break out the olive oil again, deep condition your hair with it.

Makeup

  • Any foundation that is very liquid is going to have a very light coverage. More creamy = more coverage depending on your needs.
  • Using waterproof mascara is much darker black than non-waterproof, don’t ask why because I don’t know!
  • If you have blue/grey eyes like me and love black eyeliner even though it makes your eyes seem to look dull, use a black-grey liner for the bottom lid only
  •  If you’re half awake when you do your makeup like me, set out everything in order that you would use it, then put it back in your makeup bag as you finish with that item, then there’s no clean up and you always have all your items ready the next day.
  • PRIME your makeup so it doesn’t melt, finally Rimmel London has one that isn’t ORANGE and cheap. (Its the white bottle with BLUE text)
  • On the subject of “winged” eyeliner… A lot of tutorials tell you to go UP and wing, I think of my eye like a rainbow, I curve all the way down to my lower lash line then wing.
  • Don’t buy concealer that is too light, it will make your dark circles look worse!
  • If you hate fake eyelashes, but like super lashes get: 1 mascara for volume and 1 for length~! (like XXL Pro Volume and Lash Stiletto from Maybelline, I don’t like mascara from any other company)
  • If you like dark eye makeup, wear a light shade on your lips. If you like bright red or pink lipstick, do lighter eye makeup and emphasize your eyebrows more.  (Or risk looking like a CLOWN)
  • If you FAIL with liquid eyeliner, get Maybelline Eyestudio, it’s thicker and comes with a brush. More solid and easy to handle with the same bold look of liquid.

Fashion

  • Use loose shirts with tighter bottoms, and tighter tops with looser fitting bottoms.
  • As with the above rule, to avoid looking like trash: wear a more revealing bottom with a covered up top and revealing top with covered up bottoms.
  • WEAR A WAIST BELT if you want to appear slimmer (if you’re a pear like me wear a high waist belt
  • I wear a uniform at work and I’m too lazy to bring a change of clothes so what I do is wear the black pants with a tank top and swap my work shirt for a nice button up sweater or a sheer top to wear over the tank top for going out after. In the summer you could just bring a pair of shorts and sandals~
  • NEVER EVER EVER EVER WEAR LEGGINGS WITHOUT A SHIRT TO COVER YOUR ASS!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneoneone I don’t care if you’re 11 years old and size 2… just NO!!!!
  • Try to choose colours that look good with your skin tone and hair colour. Example: When my hair was red certain pinks looked terrible on me, but as a blonde they look much better.
  • Don’t be afraid of patterns, stripes, and plaids~! Otherwise your wardrobe will look like its full of basics.

Exercise

……….ahahahahahah just kidding. I have nothing to say in the exercise department. The extent of my exercise is DDR every now and then.
